Rick Altmann, the fatty behind "Ethan" J.R. Reynolds (seen on the left), is a fucking con man. He stole thousands of dollars from me when I was just 22 years old and tried to put his fat, greasy, smelly hands on me. What kind of grown man steals money from a fucking college kid? That is the lowest of the low. And for that, RICK, may you burn in hell.
The reason I'm making this blog page is because I've recently run across other stories online involving JR (I know him as JR, others apparently know him as Ethan Reynolds) and the scam artist "man behind the curtain," Rick Altmann. From what I've gathered, Rick is still up to his same old shit, conning more young guys the same way he conned me--using "Ethan" as a ploy. Now that the public is onto him, I thought I'd come forward and share my experience with this total waste of human skin (and A LOT of skin at that).
Here's what I know about Rick: He's incredibly manipulative. He uses the internet to disguise himself as others in order to gain the attention of (and then scam) young guys who are WAAAAY out of his league. I first met Rick on AOL where he was pretending to be JR "Ethan" Reynolds. Of course I thought at the time I was talking to JR, not the morbidly obese Rick Altmann. It was all just a ploy to draw me in. The old "bait and switch." Long story short, he talked to me as "JR" for some time before gradually introducing his real, smooth-talking self to me as JR's roommate (he never did admit to chatting with me as JR but I now know for a fact it was him all along). He was extremely charismatic and told me everything I wanted to hear, more or less promising me the world. I remember having that "this is too good to be true" alarm going off in the back of my mind, but I was only 22 and chose to ignore it...looking back, I wanted to believe everything he told me. Of course nothing he told me ever came true.
After talking to Rick (and who I thought was JR) for some time online, I did eventually meet them both in person. I was shocked, however, to find that real life JR was NOTHING at all like the JR I'd come to know online (because he wasn't the guy I'd been chatting with!). Online, JR was very intelligent, funny and charismatic, while the real life JR (Ethan) Reynolds I met was shy, pouty, non-talkative, very immature and certainly didn't come across as being all that intelligent. And although I'm not a fan of the kid after having met him, I still find Rick's manipulation of JR incredibly sick and wrong. JR/Ethan apparently had a not-so-great childhood (or so I'm told) and I believe Rick preyed on that. JR was almost like Rick's little bitch. Rick controlled him. I even found out they slept in the same room together (on bunk beds!) at Rick's mom & dad's house. Oh, by the way Rick--if you read this--are you still living with mommy and daddy over on Margarita Avenue in Henderson? I know a lot more about you than you think, bitch.
Rick would eventually devise a plan to steal thousands of dollars from me, and once he had my money he disappeared without a trace. Well Rick, the jig is up. Shame on you for what you did to me and again may you burn in hell for scamming me and these other guys I'm now reading about online. One thing I'll never understand is why you can't just use all that time and energy you spend scamming people and make money in an honest way? You're a smart guy, why do you have to resort to scamming innocent COLLEGE KIDS in order to make money? It's not like you couldn't use your brain to make money LEGALLY! What the fuck is your problem? Wait...I think I know what your problem is. You're a gambling addict.
Watch your back, fat ass. One of these days your karma is gonna creep up and knock the living shit out of you, if it hasn't already. Hope it was worth having to run from me for the rest of your life! You're gonna have to EARN that money you stole from me!

I came across this site as I was recently pondering my experience as a youth, active n a church youth group in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1996 - 1999. My search for Rick Altmann resulted in this posting. Immediately, once seeing this photo - it sent chills up my spine. Rich Altmann was the youth pastor at a small church and grew a small 20 member youth group to over 120 young, youth members in a relatively small amount of time. Then, one day - he was gone. I realize now, that he was likely terminated from his position as youth pastor because of innappropriate behavior and relationships with some of the youth, but I don't know the details. What I do know is that Rick is very predatory and has an inexplicable charisma and charm that attracts people to him. As an active member of the youth group I found myself drawn to him, at a young age, although as a female, and recollecting now, I did not have as strong a relationship with Rick as many of the males in the group had. In my recollection of over 15 years ago, I recall that Rick had moved to Las Vegas from the mid-west somewhere and had also served in a youth leader capacity. I now wonder what he did to young youth back then and if he was also terminated from a church. I am sickened at the number of years this predatory pedaphilia has been going on and hope that others will come forward with their stories. Rick is a sick individual with traits of a psychopath and socio-path. He is a liar who is deceptive and deceitful. More importantly from what I can tell online and through my recollection, he preys on young, weak individuals and likely sexually violates. I hope that one day charges can be filed against this individual who has ruined lives for over 20 years. Those with stories to tell need to come forward and band together. Over the four years that I knew Rick, there were signs, but we all just "believed." May the truth be told and may justice pervail.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your story, Adeleine. Rick did mention to me once that he grew up in Saline, Michigan. Whether that's true or not, who knows! I was not aware he was ever a youth pastor--that is very worrisome! He never struck me as religious AT ALL. In fact he never once mentioned anything about religion the entire time I knew him. He likely just used the church as a way to gain access to young boys. Hoping more people will come forward with their stories here!

This is a photo of Rick with Vince (Vincent) Thomas (Tomas). Vince was a former member of the US5 boy band that has toured throughout Europe who continues as a musician touring in Europe. Vince was born in Ohio, however. I believe this photo may have been taken around 2008 in Europe (possibly Germany) which would make this young boy 19 at the time (concerning!). Wow thanks for the info, Benzi! I just sent messages of warning to Vince via both Twitter and YouTube. Of course if he's still under Rick's control, those messages will likely be intercepted before they get to him. Lots of disturbing patterns surfacing here. Rick Altmann is BAD NEWS for any young male that crosses his path--and even more so if they have money.

Jim, I just checked out a couple of those links and yea...I definitely suspect *someone* is behind those accounts. They're way too intellectual and positive for being written by JR (not the JR I knew, anyway!). It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Rick weaseled his way back behind the scenes. Those seem to be written in the exact same style and tone as his old blog (the one he apparently got busted for having Rick ghostwrite). Regardless of who's behind the posts on those accounts, they are not an accurate representation of what JR (err--Ethan) is like in real life. JR has the looks; Rick has the brains. That is how this duo operates.

ReplyDeleteI met him a year or 2 prior through a friend while he was stationed in Virginia in the army). He asked me to buy his friend a plane ticket to Vegas and brought him to the airport. Don't remember the face of the friend, but he was blonde and was in town for his first circuit party. It was around Halloween and just after 9/11. Thus needing my help in getting this loser back home.
I've always thought about tracking down this fucker and demand my money. He gave me the run around for a while saying he was in the hospital, the money is on it's way....blah, blah, blah.
I just gave up and was in shock because I thought we were friends and I didn't have much money myself.
I really appreciate this website and that people can access it. It sent shivers throughout my body when I read this. It also made me laugh knowing he is a complete loser and never amounted to ANYthing!

Wow! The whole "I'm in the hospital" thing sounds VERY familiar, as he pulled that same exact stunt with me at one point! This useless fat pig was catfishing before catfishing was even a thing!
DeleteI'm really surprised to hear you saw pictures of him somewhere--Rick was always incredibly averse to having his photo taken and would almost run (or try to run, given his thunderous size) anytime a camera was taken out around him. I'm not even kidding--one time I jokingly pointed my camera at him while he was driving and he nearly punched it out of my hands. THAT, my friends, is a person who has something to hide. I was incredibly surprised (and happy!) to find that pic of him posted above. Even when he and I conversed over AOL back in the day he would never send pictures of himself.
Well hey--be happy he only got you for $200! I'm glad more victims are continuing to find this site. Hope it was worth it, Rick!
